Our vision is to establish a welcoming Islamic Centre that provides excellent religious services, quality Islamic education, youth development, community engagement and spiritual guidance while strengthening relationships with the wider community. We are seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and community-focused Imam who can help build and grow this exciting new Masjid and Islamic Centre.Main ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be expected to:Religious LeadershipLead the five daily congregational prayersLead Jumu'ah prayers and deliver inspiring Khutbahs in fluent English. Lead Eid prayers and Khutbahs.Lead Taraweeh prayers during Ramadan (with assistance where appropriate).Deliver regular Islamic reminders (Dars), Halaqahs, weekly and monthly lectures.Teach Qur'an, Hadith, Tafseer, Aqeedah, Fiqh, Seerah and other Islamic sciences.Madrasa LeadershipThe Imam will play a leading role in establishing and developing the BIC Madrasa. Responsibilities include:Teaching children, adult in the Madrasa.Supervising and supporting Madrasa teachers including sisters AlimaAssisting with curriculum development.Monitoring students' progress.Engaging positively with parents.Supporting adult Islamic education programmes.Helping establish a high-quality Islamic educational environment.Community EngagementThe Imam will actively engage with the local community by:Providing Islamic guidance and counselling.Conducting Nikah ceremonies.Assisting with Janazah prayers and funeral services.Offering marriage and family counselling.Supporting youth programmes.Visiting the sick and elderly where appropriate.Helping new Muslims and those wishing to learn Islam.Promoting unity and good character within the community.Participating in interfaith and community engagement activities when required.Administrative & Leadership DutiesThe Imam will:Work closely with the Trustees and Executive Committee (designated person(s) only).Attend management meetings when required.Assist in planning Islamic programmes and community events.Support fundraising activitiesHelp develop educational, youth and Dawah programmes.Ensure safeguarding policies are followed.Maintain appropriate records of religious and educational activities.Essential RequirementsApplicants must:Have recognised Islamic qualifications from a reputable Islamic institution.Be able to communicate fluently in spoken and written English.Be able to confidently deliver Jumu'ah and Eid Khutbahs in English.Have excellent Qur'an recitation and TajweedDemonstrate sound knowledge of Qur'an, Sunnah and Fiqh.Have previous experience as an Imam and/or Islamic teacher in the UK.Be passionate about community development.Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Be legally entitled to work in the UK.Be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS Check.Desirable QualificationsPreference will be given to candidates who:Are Huffaz of the Qur'an.Have previous experience serving as an Imam in the UK or Western context.Have experience managing or teaching in a Madrasa in the UK.Have experience working with children and young people in the UK.Are familiar with safeguarding procedures in the UK.Can engage effectively with a diverse multicultural community.Have experience using digital technology and social media for Dawah and education.What BIC OfferCompetitive salary (£22,000–£32,000 depending on experience).Four weeks paid annual leave...Opportunity to lead and shape a newly established Islamic Centre.Opportunity to develop educational, youth, adult and community programmes.Professional and friendly working environment.Please note: Accommodation and meals are not provided as part of this role.Application ProcessApplicants should submit:A detailed CV.A covering letter explaining their suitability for the role.Copies of Islamic qualifications.Two references (including one from a previous mosque or Islamic organisation where possible).Audio or video recordings of: Qur'an recitation.
